Help & Heal Animal Trust · Gajraula, Uttar Pradesh

A forever home for the animals no one else will take.

For over thirty years, Simmy Malhotra has given rescued animals everything — and now, at last, she has secured the land to build them a permanent sanctuary. Help us build it.

Why it matters

They are not residents of a shelter. They are family — free from cages and chains.

Around 60 animals live in Simmy's care today — the blind, the paralysed, the epileptic, the elderly, and rescued cattle. Most can never return to the street. For years they have lived in rented, temporary space. Now there is land of their own in Gajraula — and the chance, for the first time, to build them a true forever home.

Simmy as a child with her dogs
The woman behind it

One life, given to this.

For more than three decades, animal welfare has been the purpose that shaped Simmy's life. Since childhood, she felt compelled to help those who had no voice and nowhere to go — what began with individual rescues became a lifelong commitment.

In 2010, she left the corporate world to dedicate herself entirely to this work, founding Help & Heal Animal Trust. To this day she runs it with her son, without paid staff. Despite limited resources, they have never turned away an animal because its condition was difficult, expensive, or permanent.

"Every animal deserves a chance — not merely to survive, but to live with dignity."

— Simmy Malhotra, Founder Trustee

Chanda and Tara, rescued cows
A family, not a headcount

Chanda & Tara

a mother, her daughter, and a rope that couldn't hold them

Abandoned in 2022 — the mother too weak to make milk, the calf surviving on what little there was. Simmy took them in and healed them over months. Then their old dairy owner seized the mother back. That night, near 11 PM, she appeared at the gate — Chanda had broken her rope and brought Tara home. She chose us.

They will never be chained or exploited again. The cow shed in the sanctuary plan is being built for them — and for the abandoned cattle still to come.

Kismat, recovering after rescue
Why a sanctuary is needed

Kismat

found on a roadside while searching for the sanctuary land

One hind limb crushed to the bone, dragging herself forward. Most would have seen a hopeless case. Simmy saw a life that still wanted to live. After surgery and the amputation of one hind limb, Kismat survived — but she can never be "treated and released." She needs safety and care for life.

Kismat is exactly who Help & Heal exists for — and exactly why a permanent sanctuary is not a luxury, but a necessity.

The reality we rescue from

The truth of the work.

Many of our animals arrive in a condition that is hard to look at. We keep honest before-and-after records — so you can see exactly who we take in, and what becomes of them with care.

The land

A dream that often felt impossible.

For over a year Simmy searched — property after property out of reach. Giving up was never an option; too many animals depended on it. At last, one acre was secured in Gajraula, Uttar Pradesh.

The secured land in Gajraula

To many it is just a piece of land. To us, it is the foundation of a forever home.
